Curtains: The Never Fading Window Covering Trend

As times are constantly changing, we’re aware trends change with them and what’s considered the must-have at the moment is the next moment’s old-fashioned choice, but that’s never stopped me from experimenting with my interior décor by mixing the two. In fact it’s what I recommend to everyone, particularly people like me who love to have home makeovers more often than their budget allows. I know ’tis the time of minimalism, and I myself couldn’t help but fall for its charms, however that hasn’t prevented me from keeping on with my old passions either. One of them is decorating with the everlasting beauty of curtains and I won’t let anyone persuade me bare windows are the way to go, as minimal as that is.

I’m amazed by how long curtains have actually been around, standing the test of time century after century, a design that started out of necessity to protect oneself and one’s home from the sun rays and provide better insulation, to key pieces in interior décors that underwent changes in every epoch regarding style. As much as I love all the styles, I’m glad I’m part of the world of today where everything is available for sale and with so many choices, I prefer the custom made curtains I can get through online shopping as I also have the chance to get free sample delivery prior to my order and purchase so I can be sure of making the right pick material and colour wise.

As a sun lover who appreciates the start of every new day with a stretchy surya namaskar (sun salutation), you can guess I have plenty of windows around, inviting the pleasantness of brightness at home, so this makes me a window lover too and that explains why you can find all sorts of windows in my home, big ones, small ones, oddly shaped ones… so in a way I have my own version of “mirrored” rooms. It can be tricky when handling insulation and privacy, but I love all my windows equally, more so because I have the right custom made curtains to match them.

Big windows are perfect for implementing more window coverings, something I’ve tried numerous times already and ended up with super long and wide curtains combined with honeycomb blinds. My living room bay windows got their own ideal curtain sheer covering, and it’s the spot where I enjoy reading and getting lost in books’ far away worlds, whereas my bathroom windows got their deserved stylish covering since they’re part of the room that’s more than just a utility room, it’s my own spa. As for the bedroom, my sanctuary where I need to preserve my privacy and get all the rest, I chose the blackout curtain type. That’s how my windows are taken care of for the time being, and I can’t wait to see where the never fading window covering trend would take me.
