Keeping Tabs on Cables with Cable Clips

Keeping Tabs on Cables with Cable Clips

Something that we’re trying to move on from but we still heavily rely on is cables. Be it to connect our headphones or charge our laptops, cables play a huge role in our lives. Although the future might seem to be wireless, we’re not even remotely close to it yet. There is a long way to go for the full wireless interconnectedness of devices, and until that happens we have to rely on cables. Cables can sometimes be messy, especially when you have a complicated setup with a lot of devices.
Even if you have a dual monitor setup, cable management can be difficult. But that doesn’t have to be the case, as long as you use cable wire clips. A cable clip is a small plastic piece that can be fixed on furniture or other fittings and fixtures to make for better cable management. Just like document holders, cable clips can help organise your office desk so it doesn’t look untidy and you know where each wire cable goes and what it connects.

How to Use Cable Clips

Charger

A heavy phone or a loose charger can be quite annoying, especially when you’re in a hurry trying to get as much juice in between meetings. With a cable clip, you will not only ensure that the cable stays in place, but that your phone or laptop gets charged no matter what. With properly installed cable wall clips you can rest assured that a device will get its needed juice and when you unplug it the cable will stay in place for the next time you need a device charged up.

Desktop

For a lot of people, having a tidy desk makes them more productive and science is there to support that claim. But tidying up your desk doesn’t only involve keeping things in their right place. It also means hiding away stuff that you don’t really need to look at. With even a couple of wire holding clips you can hide away the cables by giving them a different route that makes them go behind the desk.

TV

When your TV is hooked up with multiple devices such as your console, streaming device, and/or another monitor, it can be really easy to mismanage all your cables. To make it easy to identify any HDMI cables, cable wire clips can help make things simpler. By colour coding a clip with a corresponding device you’ll know which cable goes with which device and you’ll prevent cables from tangling up.

What Cable Clips Can I Use?

Nail

With nail cable clips, also known as cable wall clips, you can keep cables in place both for professional and DIY projects. They are extremely common as they are simple to use and come in a lot of sizes and shapes. Just hammer in the clip with the nail and you’re good to go.

Round

A round cable clip is also common. Round cable clips come in a nail-in version as well. Available in almost any configuration, a rounded cable usually does not require a nail to be driven into a piece of furniture or the wall. Instead, they can be fixed with the help of a screw or some adhesive.

Flat

You should use flat cable clips to hold ribbons and flat wires. These clips are fixed flush to the wall as they come in a rectangular shape that makes them both a secure and convenient solution.

Coaxial

When it comes to stereo wiring on home entertainment system cables alongside telephone and internet cables, coaxial wire clips are the most common solution. Why? Because they are made to be repositioned easily when you need to change the route of your cables.

Self Adhesive

A self-adhesive wire clip is one that doesn’t require you to make holes in your furniture or wall. All you need to do is peel off the backing of the adhesive and stick the clip on wherever you feel like it’s going to work best.

Saddle

A saddle clip is designed for secure mounting and to help the wire runs stand slightly upwards from the surface the clips are fixed to. These clips reduce strain and chafing which means they are commonly used with snap-in bases and closing tops to make it easy to remove wires.

P

A p cable clip is commonly used to securely hold cables, pipes and even hoses. They are one of the more distinctive cable clips which look a lot like the letter “P”. These clips wrap around the cable or cables they need to secure and then they are fixed into place usually with a screw.

Metal

A metal cable clip is no more than a slim piece of metal with holes in it. There are no bends or weird shapes – just a straightforward design that is commonly used in industrial and manufacturing settings. Metal clips are resistant to environmental factors and chemicals.

Screw-In

Screw-in clips are used with PMA conduits and machine installation since they are hard-wearing. Plus, they’re able to keep heavier and thicker wire gauges in place. You can also find screw-in cable clips used in high-pressure washrooms as well as in the food & beverage industry.
